MATATA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETS

At the monthly meeting of the Matata Women’s Institute in the Presbyterian Hall on Wednesday, Mrs R. Withy presided over a fair attendance. Mrs Withy gave a report on her trip to the conference as delegate, and delegates were appointed for the Council meeting to be held at Edgecumbe on October 14. Final arrangements were made in connection with today’s Home Industries Show in which the Institute is competing. Competition results:— 1 Best flower: Mrs Smith 1/ Mrs Warbrick 2. Floral horseshoe: Mrs Smith 1, Mrs Rolfe Withy 2. Child’s frock: Mrs Smith 1. Fruit cake: Mrs R. Withy 1. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs J. Parkinson and Miss Burt. A bring and buy stall for the Leper Fund realised a fair sum.
