Wool Board Wants Textile Labelling
A draft of proposed legislation for the compulsory labelling of all textiles sold in New Zealand to show what they are made of has been prepared by the New Zealand Wool Board and is to be submitted to all interested parties. It is unlikely that it will get beyond the draft form this year. This was stated by the Chairman of the New Zealand Wool Board, Mr N. R. Jameson, at the recent annual meeting of the Board with the ■Electoral Committee of the wobl industry. Mr Jameson said the question of seeking legislation to compel makers to §tate the proportion of each fibre in their textile fabrics t had been exercising the Board for a considerable time, but there had been some delay because they wished to met the wishes of the British woollen industry in framing tlie proposed law. “We have held back for fear of doing some injustice to the British woollen industry, whose exports are so vital to Britain’s recovery,” Mr Jameson said.
