Thornton W.I.

This month’s meeting of 1 the Thornton Women’s Institute was well attended, Mrs Ducker presiding. Beautiful bunches of spring flowers were presented to birthday members. A letter was read from the Federation President urging members to put in entries for the Home Industry Show this month. Mrs D. Branch gave a very comprehensive talk on her visit to Wellington last . month as delegate to W.I. Conference. At the conclnsion of the talk Mrs Law proposed a vote of thanks to Mrs Branch for so ably acting as delegate. / ' Miss Schneller gave an interesting talk on the Group Travel Tour, and said the trip was well worth while. Mrs McQueen won the wall competition, Mrs Tooke the prize in aid of general funds. Competition winners:— Daffodils: Mrs Law 1, Mrs L. Smith 2. Sock: Mrs Sheat 1, Mrs Checkley 2. Pikelets: Mrs Dickson 1, Mrs Law 2. Best flower: Mrs DUcker 1, Mrs Jones 2. „ Best vegetable: Mrs D. Branch 1, Mrs. Sheat 2.
