Sharp Earthquake A sharp earth tremor was. felt 'at Whakatane and on the Plains at approximately 12.40 p.m. on Monday. It lasted just on 30 seconds, and though it reached a certain violence at its peak, no damage is reported. It was felt strongly at Edgecumbe, where residents considered it one of the most severe for.some time. Air Search For Cow An aircraft was probably used for the first time in New Zealand recently to look for a cow that had been lost. A farmer, Mr J. Wright, of Kaipaki, who is a member of the Waikato Aero Club, had missed a valuable Jersey cow. In company with Mr G. Robertson, instructor for the club, he piloted a Tiger Moth aircraft over the farm in a search for the animal.. The cow was found in a gully after a quarter .of an hour’s flying.
