PUBLIC NOTICES RUGBY FOOTBALL GRAFTON SENIORS v WHAKATANE REPS TANEATUA DOMAIN One of Auckland’s leading teams coming here in full strength. » SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER II IN THE MATTER of the Local Government Commission Act, 1946, / IN THE MATTER of the Counties Act, 1920, and IN THE MATTER of the proposed alteration of the boundaries of the County of Whakatane and the County of Opotiki. WHEREAS a petition pursuant to Section 14 of the Counties Act, 1920,' dated 23rd September, 1947, was presented to the Governor-General praying that a certain area be excluded from the. County of Opotiki and included in the County of Whakatane; AND WHEREAS the aforesaid Petition has been referred to the Local Government Commission in terms of Section 24 of the Local Government Commission Act, 1946; AND WHEREAS the aforementioned Petition .was the subject of a Public Inquiry held at Whakatar.e on the 30th day of April 1948; AND WHEREAS the Local Government Commission did on the 11th day of August 1948 promulgate a Provisional Scheme providing for certain adjustments of boundaries as between the aforesaid Counties; AND WHEREAS it has been found that the Schedule appended to the aforesaid Provisional Scheme is incorrect in that certain boundaries are wrongly defined; AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the aforesaid Provisional Scheme is cancelled: NOW THEREFORE the Local Government Commission DOTH HEREBY CANCEL the aforementioned Provisional Scheme and in the exercise of the powers conferred upon it by the Local Government Commission Act, 1946, DOTH HEREBY PROMULGATE a PROVISIONAL SCHEME for the exclusion of the area described in the Schedule hereto from the County of Opotiki and the inclusion thereof \in the County of Whakatane.
If within one month of the date of this notification no objections are lodged with the Secretary the Local Government Commission will proceed to approve of the Scheme as a Final Scheme. . s SCHEDULE All that area containing approximately 4000 acres, being part of the Opotiki County, and situated in Blocks 11, 111, VI and VII, Whakatane Survey District, bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block m aforesaid at. the eastern end of Ohope Beach, being the westernmost corner of Lot 40 (Recreation Reserve) as shown on the plan numbered 22193, deposited in the Office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, being part of Allotment 246 A No. 2, Waimana Parish, and running easterly along the shore of the Bay of Plenty,- and southerly and westerly generally along the shores of the Ohiwa Harbour to the south-western corner of Allotment 252, Waimana Parish; thence along a right line to the southern extremity of Allotment 249, Waimana Parish (Ohakana Island); thence along another right line to a point 1000 links distant from and due west of Whitiwhiti Point, being the northwestern extremity of Allotment 127, Waimana Parish; thence along another right line to a point being the intersection of the northern boundary of that part of Lot 2 to the north-west of Wainui Road, as shown on the plan numbered 12843, deposited as aforesaid, with the Mean High Water Mark of the Ohiwa Harbour aforesaid, thence westerly generally along the said northern boundary and along a right line being the last mentioned boundary produced across the aforesaid Wainui Road to its western side; thence northerly generally along the boundary of the Whakatane County as described in N.Z. Gazette Number 109, of the 31st day of October, 1940, page 2780, to the point of commencement. Dated this first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and. forty-eight. (Sgd) I.
