Exotic Timber Exports
People had continued to criticise the -Government for allowing timber to leave the country while the domestic demand was not fully satisfied, but it did not seem to be realised. by the general public that exports at present were purely in the nature of an exchange for essential Australian hardwood, said the Commissioner of State Forests,-Mr Skinner, addressing the Dominion Sawmillers’ Federation. Negotiations were now under way for the organisation of a substantial export trade through the port of Tauranga. The first shipment, a trial, w,puld leave Tauranga by the James Cook in September.' ■ * ■ .
