Service Record Of Fire Brigade At Whakatane
The award of further service medals and bars to members of the Whauatane Volunteer Fire* Brigade has brought to light the interesting fact that, although the Brigade is only 35 years old, its present 21 members have a tottal of 172 years of service to their credit. That figure does not include the 25 years’ service o£. the recently-retired Superintendent, Mr F. H. Stewart. Present members of the Brigade average 8 years’ service per man. Those to whom service awards were presented this month are:— . Five-year medal: Firemen A. Theobald. Two-year bars: Superintendent T. Hurndell (total of 17 years), Foreman S. Dent <l3 years), Firemen F. Skelton and B. Woolliams (7 years).
