OUR WALTER

Our Walter was a clever'boy His mother always said Always making something Out of nothing with his head At school he sat and swotted He figured and he figured Until the poor boy’s health became A calculating gizzard Walter is a wanderer He starts for anywhere And won’t say when he’s coming back ■ Or who will pay his fare He also is a sober chap For alcoholic flops With grave [concern he will prescribe A bag of acid drops Walter’s always unperturbed At debates and elections He never shouts or waves his arms And smiles at interjections Now Walter has the arduous task Of making both ends meet How he does it goodness knows But still he keeps upon his toes To counter opposition blows Ask what you didn’t oughter Complacently he’ll answer still, There ain’t no flies on Walter. HARRY SERGANT.
