Aerial Topdressing

“I regard aerial topdressing as a proper means of doubling and trebling our rural population. There can be no better way of increasing the national income, the national wealth and national -security, which are the best guarantees of ensuring the

solvency of the national structure,” states Mr L. T. Daniell, of Masterton, in the book (Massey College, 10/-) containing the adresses and discussions at this year’s meetings of sheepfarmers at Massey College and at Napier. Mr Daniell adds that farmers can help in forwarding the aerial topdressing venture by (1) urging the immediate despatch overseas of technical personnel to investigate suitable aircraft in the United Kingdom and U.S.A., with power to purchase; (2) planning of the huge supply problem, which includes investigation of methods of cartage to the many aerodromes of raw maternals for the manufacture of superphosphate on the spot; (3) the growing and harvesting on a large scale of suitable seed such as subterranean clover; and (4) formation of special committees of interested farmers to assist with all experiments before the arrival of a suitable experimental aircraft.
