Opouriao Dairy Factory Shows Overall Increase In Most Departments
A general increase in production and pay-out to suppliers was shown in the directors' report for the past year's activities of the Opouriao Dairy Company Ltd. presented to the annual meeting at Taneatua on Wednesday. An increase of 575,981 lbs of milk and 4211bs of cream was recorded over the previous year's figures. Increases were also recorded in the cheese making department. The last year's total milk poundage supplied for cheese was 19,664,252 and the season ended in July 1948 showed an increase to 20,301,4361b5. An increase was also made in the weight of cheese produced. The total production of whey butter for the last season was 79,8561bs as against 75,9361bs made in the previous season. The company's pay-out figures showed that the season average per pound payment for butterfat of all grades was 18.82 pence to suppliers of milk and 16.79 pence to suppliers of cream. The stocks of dairy produce for export remaining unsold at the end of the season are to be valued at the guaranteed price less estimated charges and the stocks held for local consumption are to be sold on the present wholesale prices less certain allowances for charges. This gives an increased payment per pound season average of 4.00 pence to both suppliers of milk and cream, and will make the payment per pound up to 27.83 pence for milk suppliers and 26.00 pence for cream suppliers.
