Vagrancy Charged Dismissed: Remand Application Refused

Messrs C. S. Armstrong and S. S. Shapley, J's P. on Wednesday dismissed a charge of vagrancy brought the police against Anthony Barbarich, of Kutarere. Constable R. F. Julian sought a remand, but Mr B. S. Barry, for the defendant, submitted that he should be dealt with forthwith or the case dismissed. If there were evidence of vagrancy, it should be produced then and there, but he claimed there was none. Barbarich had a permanent home, and a return bus ticket as well as a sum of money in his pocket when he was arrested. Constable Julian said he had no • evidence to produce at that junc--iure, and the case was dismissed.
