BOROUGH WATER SUPPLY
Sir, —A member of the Borough Works' Committee called on- me -this afternoon and told me to lead him to the spot where the Borough Council had wasted £IOOO of ratepayers' money (which my letter of August 9 inferred). I told him the spot was over the River Bridge beyond the Borough boundary, so why worry? It is said there is no fool like an old fool, but I am not fool enough to wash undies.in public but will dare to be a Daniel and meet a den of irate Borough lions (provided Councillor Creeke is present as referee) and substantiate the remarks in my letter in question! After hearing the debates at Wellington one naturally concludes that what is sauce for M.P. geese is sauce-for Borough ganders. With apologies for unwittingly treading on municipal corns. Yours etc., H. SERGANT.
