Whakatane R.S.A. Plans Sending More Food To Britain This Year
Last year, the Returned, Services Association throughout. New Zealand forwarded to Britain food parcels, amounting in value to £24,000. These parcels are sent to widows ci disabled Servicemen throughout England and Scotland, the names being supplied through the British Legion. The Whakatane R.S.A. joined wholeheartedly in this scheme, arid sent a number of parcels. By the appreciative replies received, they feel the effort was well worth while. This year they wish to increase the number of parcels- to be sent, and while not wanting to make a special appeal to the public for assistance to this cause, would be very pleased to receive any donations from members of the' general public throughout this district who. feel they would like to contribute, knowing that the funds so collected will, be used in sending parcels to individuals in Britain who are in need of these extras during this difficult period of food rationing. Donations may be handed to any member of the R.S.A. Executive, or posted to the secretary, P.O. Box 20, Whakatane.
