Air Crash Victim Back On Location After Spell

John Slater, victim of the tragic Dakota air crash at Le Bourget in September of 1946, when 21 people were killed, appears on the screen for the first time since his accident in Michael Balcon’s “It Always Rains On Sunday” whiclwhe made at Ealing Studios. Make-up skilfully masks his scars, but film-goers will see that he appears with his right leg in irons. Slater made a remarkable recovery from his injuries, but was on the danger list for a considerable time. He plays the part of Lou, brother of band-leader Morry Hyams, in this drama of London’s East End.

Britain offers very little location facility but snow fell just right for “Blanche Fury,” and Stewart Granger and Valerie Hobson took advantage of Britain’s arctic spell for shooting natural outdoor scenes. Fuel cuts were not too . serious as schedule for period included many “candle-lit” scenes. John Mills and Joan Greenwood have almost finished their roles in E. Ambler’s “October Man.” John is busy speculating future plans which include visit to America to coincide with “Great Expectations” premiere in New York and the showing of the Rank R.K.I. “So Well Remembered” in which he also stars.
