Art Of Wearing Shoes To Fit Type Of Feet
The girl with thick ankles and a size 7 foot may feel she’s got a handicap but so long as she does not draw attention to them with ankle straps and fancy trimmings she need not feel envious of slender tiny feet. Classic court shoes are always elegant and smart and a short toe minimises the length of the foot. A high heel adds grace to a short leg. Large shoes look a lot smaller if the girl who wears them crosses her ankles and keeps her feet close to her chair. A wide foot is well shod in shoes that cover the front of the foot and hold the sides. Nothing is more disastrous than a foot that bulges over the sides of a shoe. A high tongue in front conceals the width of the foot and the length is minimised by the square toe, the inset vamp and laces tied across the tongue. A short, Cuban heel is an asset to girls who do not want to add to their height but feel dowdy in a flat heel. And it is good for weak ankles. A new look in sandals is designed specially for new look skirts. It has a slightly higher wedge trimmed away at the instep for extra elegance so necessary with the longer skirt. And a cross over the strap gives a smart, new built-up look. Sandal shoes are meant for slender feet and 'for comfort and must be as'carefully fitted as an ordinary closed, shoe
otherwise the result will be blisters or other ailments resulting from the rubbing of the straps. Ankle straps are also good camouflage for bony ankles. Remember, crooked stocking seams give a bandy look to straight legs*. Wrinkled stockings will often hide a pretty pair of ankles. Down-at-the-heel shoes spoil any outfit. Shoes that do not fit your feet will’^not wear well. If your foot , slips you will wear down the edges, if they are too short you will wear toes.
