Nurses Hold Successful Dance

Another highlight in the social activities of Whakatane was concluded on Saturday night with the Nurses Dance. A large crowd attended the dance which was in aid of a fund ,to provide ; added comforts; for the patients in the Hospital.. Quite'a substantial suni was taken for the fund. /. . The hall had been 'tastefully', decorated with pungaffonds and wattle boughs and, in spite of the superstition that picked wattle is unMCky>,.the dance was a great success. : H-.- , • Excellent music ;was played * v by Fred Burt and his orchestra arid an amusing -item was given -by Mr H. Hudson, who sang “Blue Heaven.’* Dr. AI“W. Cole also' sang v “Just a Prayer Away,” but would npt give an encore despite the continued clapping of the crowd. A tasty supper was served by Bell’s.
