THE BOROUGH WATER SUPPLY.
(To the Editor) Sir, —I am sure the majority of townsfolk will heartily endorse Councillor Creeke’s courageous and intelligent dealing with our town supply. .Thousands have already been spent with very unsatisfactory results. The get-busy men on all local bodies have leaped before they looked. For instance. The whole of the equipment for the Borough’s water and electrical supplies were ordered two years before they were in use. In the meantime prices had fallen in some cases 50 per cent. Water from the hills has been repeatedly and turned down, as ' Councillor Creeke has proved, in a very one-sided way. The lack of common sense was demonstrated recently when a £IOOO was spent in dumping metal to protect the river bank near the bridge. That £IOOO went west in one. night when the flood water came. down. Alright for the contractors, but how about ratepayers money and the wasted petrol so sorely needed? Yours etc., H. SERGANT.
