Junior Rifle Club Beaten In Challenge Shoot With Legion Of Frontiersmen

Last Saturday a most enjoyable morning was held at the rifle range in Valley Road. The Juniors were challenged to a shoot by the Legion of Frontiersmen. The Legion proved too good for the Juniors. Scores:— Legion of Frontiersmen: C. Bathe 24, 24, 48; E. Hunt 23,. 21, 44; C., Coates 21, 21, 42; A. Judd 21, 19, 41; R. Whittaker 18, 22, .40. Total 215. Junior Rifle Club: N. Judd 20, 22, 37; M. Brown 21, 20, 41; A. Bathe 17, 22, 39; D. Howat 20, 19, 39; M. Whittaker 16, 21, 37. Total 198. After a tasty morning tea, Captain .Whittaker, of the Legion of Frontiersmen, welcomed Mr G. Hay and family who have recently arrived in New Zealand from South Africa. He also presented the Howat cup to TST. - Judd for the highest aggregate score during the past three months. Judd was complimented on the fact that he had won the cup twice in succession, a thing that had never happened in the district before. He also won the Pennant for the best shooting on the morning.
