Rotorua Side Wrests Hurinui-Apanui Shield From Galatea At Murupara
Rotorua defeated Galatea last Saturday for the Hurinui-Apanui Shield, beating the holders by 14 points to 3. The winners secured three tries Cone converted), and one penalty kick. The losers only score was from a penalty. Tomorrow the Opotiki representatives play the new holders at Rotorua for the trophy and despite the fact that the challenging team will be without the services of its captain, M. Delamere, who is with the Maori team in Fiji, it will still be a force to be reckoned with and the chances of bringing the shield back are considered to be fairly good. An attempt by Opotiki to. have the match postponed to enable the Opotiki captain to play was defeated. Opotiki was also unfortunate last year when in the final game Delamere and Goldsmith were away with the Maori touring team. Following is the Opotiki team:— Stainton; J. Oswald, C. Walker, J.
