THAT “NEW LOOK”

Sir, —When are men going back to peg-top pants and Dundreary whiskers? If it’s good enough for Milady'to step back a century or so, why can’t we go back, too? Not that I want to wear the pegtops and the Whiskers. Still, there were other advantages those days. Even if a man did have to strain it through the remnants of the last meal that got mixed up in his facefungus, he could get a real mansized pot of the old amber for sixpence. What’s more, a man could do an honest day’s work without being called a scab. And he could get a job without being compelled to join a Union if he didn’t want to. But, skipping the politics, what I really wanted to ask you is do you think they’ll carry this halfway down the shin fashion to women’s swimsuits? It’s going to take half the fun out of the summer if they do. Do you think a petition to the Government would do any good, before this thing goes too far? Yours etc., ALARMED.
