Robot Memory
The latest robot invention bringing man nearer the arrival of a nearhuman robot is that of a mechanically memory in the form of a “memory tube” which will store any kind of image as long as desired. It is a development from a radar screen and the product of the United States Naval Research Laboratory. It operates by using three electronic beams, the first of which records the image, the second of which supplies energy holding it in place, and the third reads it for transmission elsewhere.' Reading does not destroy the image any more than reading a book affects the' type. This electrical image can be stored for several hours without appreciable loss of detail.
