Waimana Gardening Circle

The July meeting of the WaimanaNukuhou Women’s Institute gardening Circle was held at Mrs King’s home last Wednesday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members, considering the weather was quite wintery. Mrs Wylde presided and read an interesting art'icle on the growing of gladioli and the care of the eorms. The culture of roses was read by Mrs Hewitt. A competition, naming a collection of leaves, arranged by Mrs King was won by Mrs R. White, first, and Mrs Whiteman, second. Other competition winners were: Best flower: Mrs White 1, Mrs Hewitt 2, Mrs M. King 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Hewitt 1. Modern mantlepiece decoration: Mrs Hewitt 1, Mrs A. Macdonald 2, Mrs M., King 3. Mrs Wylde thanked the judges, hostesses and Mrs King for the pleasant afternoon.
