Te Teko-Edgecumbe Road Cuts Up Badly In Wet

On Friday the Edgecumbe-Te Teko road was almost impassable to traffic owing to the appearance of a large hole created by vehicles passing through the rain waters lying on the surface. County Council workmen carted metal on Saturdajr to fill this and other holes that would have, if they had been left, developed into serious menaces to road users. As it was, a number of cars received slight damage mainly to springs. i' This road, recently taken over by the Whakatane County Council from the Main Highways Board has been giving County engineers and workmen considerable trouble since the wet weather set in. The road, being lower than the surrounding lands, receives all the’ flood waters and consequently cuts up badly with the passage of traffic.
