Kowhai Women’s Institute

' At the monthly meeting of the Kowhai Women’s Institute, several new members were welcomed, and it was decided to hold the next meeting in the Methodist Hall. During the evening Mrs K. Stewart gave an interesting talk on hec travels in Scotland and Miss L. Butler entertained with a Scottish dance. Winners of the competitions were: Knitted gloves: Miss D. Richardson 1, B. Wilson 2, Mrs Patterson 3. Drawing native flower: Mrs Hills 1, Miss Richardson 2, Miss Sutcliffe 3. ' Musical quiz: Mrs Stenhouse 1. Wall competition: Mrs Hills 1. A tasty well-served supper was supplied by the hostesses Mesdames Henderson, Hodges and Ingle.
