The “New Look” In Facial Make-Up And Hair Styles To Go Witt Dress Designs
This winter fashion has changed so much that it is not surprising to find new trends in cosmetics and hair styles appearing. The elaborately cut clothes are sophisticated and call for neater, smoother, hairdressing and slightly more artificial make-up. Fiex-green, yellow-green, raisin brown, nigger-brown and a great deal of black were shown in recent dress collections and lipsticks have been designed to tone with these colours. Always darker for the winter lipsticks are darker than ever this time. The return of pale green face powder for people mauve face powder for evening wear contrasts with the change back to untinted foundation creams.
A new method of applying lipstick is with a tiny fur brush. Using a brush means that all sorts of shapes can be given to the lips without smudging and without putting on layter after layer of lipstick beyond the true contour of the lips so that it cannot help smearing. If you must improve on the shape of the' mouth do it very sparingly and try to get a colour which really suits the skin, otherwise the lipstick will look different where it comes above the actual surface of the lips. A wide mouth will appear smaller if you stop short before reaching, the corners. Narrow lips can be made to look more geenrous by going slightly above the true line in the centre and then tapering gently all the way along. People with rather large mouths are wise to avoid really striking lipstick colours. Almost every lipstick shade can be worn with black. Black suits most' complexions except perhaps very sallow skins but clever use of cosmetics makes all the difference and by using a good powder base the skin can be given life. A pale olive skin is beautiful apd is ideal for bringing the changes in the make-up colour schemes. It can stand orange, bright pink, dark cyclamen as well as scarlet. It is more difficult for blondes with their white complexion and they should stick to light make-up with clear rouge and'lipstick.
