Whakatane Golf Club Holds Successful Medal Tournament Over Week-End

The Whakatane Golf Club’s second annual Amateur Medal Tournament was held during the week-end the field of 70 including some 20 visitors representing the Huapai, Te Awamutu, Matamata, Rotorua and Te' Teko Golf Clubs. The weather was fine and the course was in excellent order. Results:— 72 Hole Gross Aggregate: S. Napier 320, I. A. Wylds 320. Won by Napier on final round. 72 Hole Nett: P. Campbell 293, S. Napier 296. Saturday: 36 Hole Gross: I. A. Wylds 155. 36 Hole Nett? R. Morpeth 145. 1 ' 18 Hole Nett: S. Napier 76—6—70, I. A. Wylds 74—4—70, R. Morpeth 81—11—70. Won by Napier on count back. Stableford: T. W. Burke 37 points. Sunday: 36 Hole Gross: S. Napier 161. 36 Hole Nett: P. Campbell 146.' 18 Hole Bogey.: L. B. Smith. Stableford: S. Napier 37 points. The first qualifying round for the championships will be played on Saturday next. Seniors. 13 and under, Intermediate 14 to 20,' Juniors 21 upwards. Re-handicaps: Wales 17, Bull 14, Miles 24, Burke 9.
