SCHOOL TRAFFIC PATROL
Sir, —Just a word in appreciation of the Infant School traffic drill for children. My youngest daughter started her schooling under Miss White and her “traffic sense” would put an adult to shame. I can assure you that she was not born with'this rare gift, nor is it present in her older brother and sister who learnt the same traffic drill in Christchurch,, where the need for safety and precaution are much greater. Getting off the school bus in a constant flow of heavy traffic, her little head turns from side to side many times before she decides to cross the road: Her head is full of common sense and for three years now I have watched the same rhythmic actions day after day, as constant as time itself; not without a little pride and a good deal of satisfaction. Most parents know that only constant teaching brings about this state of perfection in young, children, so I think the Infant School has every reason to be proud of its fine efforts, so heres thanks at least from one GRATEFUL PARENT.
