New Aids On The Farm
So many new tools for aid in farming have been developed recently that even a bare list would occupy much space. A new device for ground clearing is being made in the United States for use with a caterpillar tractor. It is a root rake in which strong spring steel teeth occupy the usual bulldozer position. A new stumper takes the place of the angle bulldozer blade on a caterpillar tractor. It gives a put 24in. deep and 36in. wide for easy cutting of lateral roots with a minimum of soil disturbance. The curved plate of heavy steel ends in four broad teeth which are strong enough to lift stump, tree or boulder as pushed from the ground. A new type of vertical drawbar has been developed in Yorkshire. It has a special self-locking adjustment pin for vertical hitch operation. A Scottish firm has produced a canopy for a tractor. It can be attached without drilling and the windshield is of safety glass while small windshield panels, steering wheel guard and hood side and door panels are of perspex. The doors are detachable from the steel frame and the roof is of sheet steel.
