Representative Hockey Honours Even
Poverty Bay won the men’s match lost the women’s in the inter-Asso-ciation hockey matches at the Whakatane Domain on Saturday. Poverty Bay men won their match 7 to 0 and the women lost to Central Bay of Plenty by 3 to 0. In the men’s match, Poverty Bay outclassed their opponents to win 7—o on a greasy field. Superior stickwork and fast following up were deciding factors. Turbitt, centre forward, Roderick, inside right and Roose, inside left, were outstanding amongst the visitors. Waller, fullback, Ellis left half, and Arrol, goal, were the pick of the home side. Scorers:— Poverty Bay (7 goals): Turbitt 3, Roderick 3, Roose 1. Bay of Plenty women proved too good for Poverty Bay, M. Cannell for Bay of Plenty, being the outstanding player scoring 2 of the side’s 3 goals. K. Keepa scoring the other. Bilson, Poverty Bay inside right was very good, but lack of support stopped her scoring.
