Further Ex-Servicemen’s State Housing Figures
Another 159 ex-servicemen obtained State house tenancies during April. This brought the number to be allocated houses until the end of, that montfy to 8401. Allocations have been made under the scheme whereby ex-servicemen obtain at least half of all newly vacant or newly built State rental houses and flats. , Following are the district allocations in the North Island to ex-ser-vicemen as at the end of April, with those for April itself shown in parentheses: Auckland-North Auckland 2426 (35), Waikato-Bay of Plenty 644 (5), Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay 361 (10), Taranaki 242 (2), Wellington Province (including Palmerston North, Wanganui and Masterton 2972 (60). '
