Th 6 Whakatane Fire Brigade held a dry practice over- the roof-tops of the Strand on Tuesday night, The full equipment, excluding the trailer pump unit was used. After runing out the hose and' ladders, a “patieht” was lowered off the verandah of the “blazing” shop in a state of “collapse” and to simulate the firey condition of the area he was muttering to all and sundry, “the fire is- burning and I’m ----- burning and it’s generally hot around here.”'
