Church Union Ballot

Presbyterians are to engage in something quite new in the history of their church in New Zealand, when a vote of the whole communicant membership is taken this month. The vote will be by postal ballot and members will have simply to say whether or not they favour uniting with the Congregational and Methodist Churches on the terms indicated in the approved Basis of Union. The result will be of interest to many and will provide the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church with vital information to guide it in its deliberations on church union when it meets in Wellington next November.
