Barbarians Too Good For Whakatane B

The old timers the Barbarians, proved just a little too heady in the backs and the forwards, for the Whakatane B representatives in the curtain raiser on the Domain on Saturday. Though lacking a little wind they could' still beat the younger team by 16 to 6. The Barbarians outstripped the B’s in both departments and showed up the fact that low tackling is the only way to bring a man down. Back rushes were altogether too heady and tricky for the younger team. A.lot of ground was losif by the B’s through tackling round the neck, and the * old players simply backed through the tackle. Scorers • were: Barbarians (16 points): B. McGougan, J. Keepa, Dodds and Hohapata a try each; Hohapata and Oswald a conversion each. ; Whakatane B’s (6 points): D. Morpeth and Kain a try each.
