Striking Wedding Gown

The task of the bride-to-be who wants a traditional white wedding is a difficult one. There are very few wedding gowns to buy, and this, of course, means very few styles to choose from. If the bride is discriminating in her; choice of a wedding gown, and most brides are for this very important day, it is often wiser to have a gown made; this way the bride can choose the style that suits her best. Brides-to-be who are looking for ideas for the design of their wedding gown should see the new Ealing film “Frieda,” in which the lovely Swedish star, Mai Zetterling, plays the title role in her first British film. Mai wears in this picture a striking new style in wedding gowns. Featuring a high neck-line with a small band around the throat, the bodice is cut in vertical strips, with pleated bands of material placed between the plain satin. There are four of these pleated bands running down the bodice, and two are carried down the full length of the skirt. These simple but novel pleated bands give an unusual decoration to relieve the plain white of the wedding gown, and also have a kattering slimming effect. With the gown Mai wears a beautiful lace halo, with a full length embroidered veil falling round the back and over the shoulders in the front like a cape.—B.E.F.
