N.Z. Tops Food Production Figures
During the war the Government of the United Kingdom published figures to the effect that the output per unit of labour expressed in sterling was as follows: New Zealand £450 per worker enough food for 33 people, Australia £3OO per worker enough food for 29 people, Great Britain £205 per worker enough food for 17 people, U.S.A. £lB5 per worker enough food for 13 people. This shows the importance of the farmer in New Zealand’s economy.
