Paper Mills Social

A really successful social and dance organised by the Social Committee of the Whakatane Paper Mills in honour of the pending marriage of two employees of very long service, Miss M. Kilby and Mr W. Scott, was held in the King Street Hall last night. ' The evening started well with Mr J. Henry making a most efficient M.C. and Freddie Burt’s Orchestra supplying some very good music. Later, the guests of honour were caked' and after some very complimentary things had been said by Mr J. Pithy, assistant manager, Mr W. Hewitt and Mr E. B. Brown, general manager, they were presented with a number of useful gifts, including a radio, an occasional table and a whisky set. Mr Scott replied suitally on his and Miss Kilby’s behalf.
