These splayers have been selected to represent Whakatane section against Rangitaiki section at Edgecumbe Domain next Saturday, to play in the St John Ambulance benefit match for the St John Cup:— E. To represent Rangitaiki section: T. Dodunski, P. Laurie, S. Learning, B. Hill, B. Profit, M. Davis, K. Civil (Capt), P. Fraser, C. Hawthorne, I. Campbell, Bungan. Emergencies: T. Davis, W. Amai. Following are women’s teams for the curtain raiser match:—

King’s Birthday Hockey
Playing in the King’s Birthday hockey tournament at Edgecumbe both the Whakatane Men’s and men’s teams in very bitterly contested games came out the winners with both Men’s and Women’s cups and with no goals against them on the whole day’s play. Leading teams in the sections were: Women, Whakatane 12 points; Matata Old Girls 9 pts; Paroa A 9 pts'; Men, Whakatane 12 pts; Riverslea 10 pts; Rangers 9 pts.

Whakatane Hockey Player Selected For Fiji Tour
I. E. Wyatt, of the Whakatane Hockey Club, - has been selected to play in the Auckland Provincial Hockey team that is to tour Fiji this month. Wyatt has been an outstanding player in the Central Bay of Plenty Hockey Sub-Association this year representing Central Bay of Plenty in the Country Week Hockey Tournament recently concluded at Auckland. Besides being selected for the touring team for Fiji, Wyatt has been nominated for the Auckland team to play at the Dunedin Centennial Hockey tournament and also in the New Zealand Hockey team that is to play the first test against the Australians at Dunedin. The Fiji touring team will leave Ne\y Zealand on the “Matua” and will return by air in time for the Australian tour.
