WHAKATANE’S WHARF TRADE STILL BEATS OTHER BAY PORTS
Comparative Bay of Plenty port statistics for the three months end- * ed Match 31, which have been received by the Whakatane Harbour Board show that this port ■ again handled considerably greater traffic than either Tauranga or Opotiki. During that time 42 vesels (3589 :nett tonnage) worked the port with a total manifest of 9413 tons. Tauranga’s figures were 25 (2869) 3587 and Opotiki’s 18 (1778) 3413. Total wharfages at Whakatane for the month of March, April and May were £338 10s lid, £362 5s 2d and £331 10s sd.
