BAY OF PLENTY BEACON Published Tuesdays and Fridays. FRIDAY, JUNE 4, 1948 BETTER BEACON SERVICE

There will be no Beacon printed next Tuesday, and 'the office and the factory will be closed on Monday. Next issue of the paper will - be Wednesday, June 9.

Thereafter, in response to repeated requests from advertiser's and subscribers, the triweekly service, which had to be temporarily suspended' on account of newsprint difficulties, will be restored, with publications on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Newsprint is still scarce, but with a little re-org-anisation of the layout, we believe we shall be able to restore and maintain the full service.

Local fixed space advertising contracts will be adjusted to a tri-weekly basis, unless individual advertisers wish it otherwise. As it will be impossible to interview all advertisers at once, the editor would appreciate their sending their instructions in that regard to the office. ) Copy for replace advertisements intended to change on Wednesday will be required to be in by noon on Monday, and that for Friday changes by noon Wednesday.

Casual advertisements must be in the OFFICE by 8.30 on the morning of publication. As a general rule, long advertisements, such as stock sales and statutory notices, should be in by 4.30 p.m. the previous day. Advertisers are asked NOT to take copy to the factory, but to the OFFICE!

Sports results and other news items intended for publication on Monday should be in the letter slot in the door before 8 a.m. Monday. Sports draws, teams, or other items for Friday’s issue, should be handed in at the editor’s office AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE on Thursday. In taking this step, the BEACON is acceding to repeated requests that more news and advertising space should be made available to district organisations and businesses. It doe's so in confident anticipation of their full support.
