Mrs H. Whiteman, Waimana, is at present on a holiday visit to Wellington.
Miss A. Luttrell left Whakatane on Wednesday for three weeks’ holiday in Auckland.
Mr J. McGlone, district Employment Officer, Rotorua, visited Whakatane and Ohope this week.
Mr D. Blomfield, accompanied by his wife Dr. Adah Platts Mills, is visiting his mother, Mrs R. Cobbe, of Ohope.
Mr J. Creeke was elected vicepresident of the Whakatane Bowling Club. at the annual meeting last week.
Mrs D. Allen, of Whakatane, left Whenuapai Aerodrome for Australia on Wednesday on a two months’ holiday.
Mr George Hayward, Waimana, had the misfortune to fracture a collarbone when his horse fell while practising jumping hurdles recently. He is making satisfactory progress.
Mr E. Ramson was initiated into the .Whakatane Rotary Club at the meeting on Tuesday eevning. Vicepresident H. Dainton performed the ceremony.
Mr C. Blackie, investigating accountant, Rehabilitation Department, will visit Whakatane next Tuesday to interview ex-servicemen wishing to discuss proposals for their eventual settlement in business.
