Kowhai Women’s Institute

The monthly meeting of the Kowhai W. 1., Whakatane, was held in the Whakatane Women’s Institute room where the vice-president, Mrs Shuker, presided over a very good attendance. Business was dealt with in the early part of the evening followed by a very instructive demonstration on ‘The making of Cellophane Hats’ given by Mesdames Dixon and Print. After the sbcial hour a tasty supper was served by Misses Farrell, Fennessy and Fife. Competitions for the evening (a) Tea Cosy and (b) Jar of preserved fruit were won by Miss Fife and Mrs McCallion respectively.
