One New License-Granted And Several Amended By Transport Authority
Several applications were granted by Mr E. J. Phelan, No. I’’Transport Licensing Authority, sitting at the Whakatane Borough Council Chambers last Wednesday. Applications for new licenses to run taxis by J. A. Crapp, and N. Harris were adjourned for a month pending negotiations with J. McComb and Co. for the sale of their taxi licenses to local returned servicemen.
The other application for a new license, from T. G. Cawte, Murupara, was for a goods service to run through the Whakatane, Rotorua and Taupo boundaries. One vehicle authority was granted.
A number of amendments and additions to licenses were also granted. W. H. Semmens of Taneatua was allowed to change the type of goods carried from public works to general. I. Moulden of Te Teko was granted an extra vehicle authority. R. McP. Munro was granted an extension of his license to cover the Tauranga, Rotorua and Whakatane boundaries. An additional truck license was granted to S. M. Petersen. Of the other applications for additions and extensions, those of F. Harawira and Te K. Harawira for the right to cart spoil, earth and shingle to the general public were declined.
