PUBLIC NOTICES LAND FOR SETTLEMENT—EXSERVICEMEN AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT Applications for the sections described in the schedule hereto are invited from ex-servicemen of World War II who have been classified as eligible for rehabilitation farming assistance and who have ‘been graded “A” for dairy farming in the districts shown in the Schedule. Completed applications must be lodged with the Commissioner of Crown Lands, P.O. Box 2214, Auckland, on or before 4 p.m. on Thursday, 10th June, 1948. The ballot will be held at the Commissioner’s office at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, 16th June, 1948. The allotment of the sections will be provisional. Pending completion of a development programme to the satisfaction of the Land Settlement Board, the successful applicants will be required to accept employment on the undermentioned conditions:— (a) Wages to be £6/l's/- per wdek less 10/- per week house rent. (b) Successful applicants will be responsible for their own keep. (c) Successful applicants during their period of employment will be subject to the control of the Superintendent of Land Development and will be required to milk herds which will later be allocated to their sections and carry out any other farm work on the settlement as required by the Superintendent. ' (d) On completion of the development programme to the satisfaction of the Land Settlement Board the sections will be valued on a productive basis and the charges fixed by that’ Board. These charges will be made known to the successful applicants who will then be given a Stipulated time in which to accept or reject the sections. It is expected that these charge's will be fixed within a reasonable period of Ist July 1948 and all seasonal expenditure, wages etc. will be adjusted as at that date. Successful applicants will be paid wages from the date they take up occupation until the date charges are fixed and then wages plus all seasonal expenditure will be charged to the successful applicants and all receipts for produce will be credited to them. If the charges are not fixed within a reasonable period of Ist July 1948 the successful applicants will be employed on wages for the. 1948/49 season and charges will be fixed at Ist July 1949. Until final allotment, successful applicants will have no proprietary interest in their sections. Note: If the work of an applicant successful in this ballot proves unsatisfactory he may be liable to disqualification when specific establishment is being considered.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ON FINAL ALLOTMENT: 1. Ordinary loan limits fixed for applications by ex-servicemen for financial«assistance are not applicable to these sections but concession rates of rent and interest will be available only up to the extent of these limits with ordinary rates for advances in excess of the limits. 2. When final allotment is made, successful applicants will be required to purchase at Crown valuation such stock and plant as may be allotted to their sections. 3. Maximum deposits payable on final allotment are as shown in the Schedule. ' 4. Electric-power guarantees must be given where required.
