New Swing Club

A group of interested swing 'fans met last Thursday to form a Whakatane Swing Club. The meeting convened by Messrs F. Burt and M. Comer and Miss M. B. Clarke, was well attended and showed that the idea was popular. When organised properly the club intends to seek affiliation with the Auckland Swing Club. The following officers were elected; Patron, Dr A. W. Fletcher Cole; president, Mr F. Burt; vice-presi-dents, Mrs K. Armstrong, Messrs C. Armstrong, E. Armstrong, H. W. Brabant, P. Bridger, T. A. S. Clarke, M. B. Clarke, G. Crang, A. B. Harrison, E. Hay, C. L. Jordan, F. W. Lysaght, R. Oxenham, J. D. Rivett, D. C. Stevens, C. R. West, W. H. Whittaker; hon. secretary-treasurer, Miss B. F. Clarke.
