Million Dollar Coat
A young Scotsman who recently sold his overcoat for 1,000,000 dollars has arrived at Dunedin. He is Mr Peter Parnell, who comes from the west coast of Argyle, near Oban. Mr Parnell, who intends to settle in New Zealand, bought the overcoat for a few shillings for use on board ship during a trip to Shanghai and when he arrived there accepted an offer of 1,000,000 dollars for it. “That kept me for about one day,” he said, “so great is the inflation in China.”
