Gospel Tent Lecturer Gives Impressions Of What Heaven Is Like
“If you and, I knew that next month we had to visit another country,” said Mr C. C.. Graham at the Gospel Tent last week, “I am sure we would desire to know .as much about that country as we could before leaving. Just so with heaven. Everybody hopes to go there some day, and it is only natural therefore that we turn to God’s word to learn, something of what it is like.” Jesus said heaven was a “place” 1 (John 14) and in Revelation 21. we are told it is a “city.” Its size and dimensions are given to us—lts walls are of jasper and its streets of pure gold. There is no city or place on earth to compare with it. It is not a state of mere disembodied spirits but it is the home of the redeemed bodies in a redeemed universe. We learn from Revelation 21: 22 that it is a place of incomparable beauty. Heaven will also be the place of perfect knowledge. All problems and difficulties will be solved. There will be universal perfect love (I John 3: 3). Universal brotherhood will then be a perfect realisation. We will praise and serve the Lord Jesus in His Kingdom for evermore. . Lastly, it is described in Hebrews as “a city which hath foundations. Unlike our earth, it will be unmovable, not subject to earthquake and other disasters. Above all, it will be a “continuing” city. While the aeons of eternity roll, heaven will abide in its beauty, glory, joyfulness and love.
