Graduation Week Revels At Massey College
Last week, for considerably longer than the statutory 40-hour period, was given over to the Massey Agricultural College graduation ceremony and all the revels and burlesque attendant upon it. The graduation ceremony, a colourful spectacle of which the public has not taken full, advantage in the past, was again held in the Palmerston North Opera House on Friday evening, and followed by the annual ball in the College assembly hall,.' as a climax and finale • for the week. Main speaker at the ceremony was Dr.’W. M. Hamilton, assistant secretary for agriculture and biology for the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, who is an ex-student of the College. Mr L. J. Wild, pro-Chancellor of the'University, conferred the degrees on behalf of the University, in the unavoidable absence of the Chancellor, Mr Justice Smith. Old Student On College Board Approval of a proposal that the Massey College Old Students’ Association should be represented by one member on the College Board of Governors has been given by the latter body. Amendment of the Act of Parliament governing the constitution of the college will be necessary before effect may be given to this proposal, and application to this end has been made.
