Young Caledonians Enjoy Novelty Vice Versa Dance

At. the Whakatane Young Caledonians’ novelty evening on Saturday night, entertainment took the form of a vice versa dance in which the boys sat on the side of the hall and the girls formed the “Stag Line.” The girls asked the boys to dance, all excepting the supper, Monte Carlo and last dances. The boys had to serve supper, and they ma<jle a very creditable, job of it.

The Chief of the Young Caledonians, Mr Bill Abbott, was piped in in traditional fashion by Piper D. Paterson. The M.C’s for the evening were also girls, Misses Moira Symmans, Pauline Chadwick ,and Vilma Bowering. When the power cuts came on, they were assisted by Mr C. Ranby. Later in the evening the annual •meeting took place and Mr G. Paterson was elected chief; Miss D. Stewart, secretary; Miss Brown, treasurer; and the new committee comprises Misses C. Windley, S/1. Coates, D. Wilson, M. 4 Dines, A. Pearson,' and Messrs E. Dockray, T. Woods, B. Woods, M. Whittaker, P. Bowering. The evening then continued with dancing and novelty dances, Terry and Maureen O’Rourke winning the Monte Carlo. Music was supplied by Miss D. Stewart and Mr G. Paterson with Mr D. Paterson playing the pipes. Extras were played by Mr T. O’Rourke.
