MARKED INTEREST IN SCHOOL AFFAIRS ON RANGITAIKI PLAINS
There is marked interest in school affairs on the Rangitaiki Plains, where a combined committee covering Edgecumbe, Thornton, Otakiri, - and Awakeri has already been formed, and is urging the establishment of a secondary school in a central position on the plains. That proposition received support from the Awakeri householders’ meeting last week, when a resolution endorsing the action of the combined committee in that regard was passed. It was left to the headmaster to call a meeting of parents interested in the formation of a ParentTeacher Association, and it was strongly recommended to the ingoing committee that efforts to provide accommodation for teachers be . furthered, with the suggestion that what was needed was a self-con-tained building capable of housing three or four teachers.
