Auckland Province Of Federated Farmers Holds Monthly Meeting
... At the last monthly meeting of Federated Farmers (Auckland Province) of the Dominion Federated Farmers, many matters of vital interest were discussed and acted on. Those of national and international bearing were sent to Dominion .office for the quarterly meeting. The whole of the Auckland Province geographically was represented at the meeting, as it is at every monthly meeting. Among matters dealt with were the farmers and the benzine position. It was decided that any farmers having trouble over their benzine allocation should contact their Sub-Provincial President or head office, Auckland. In the main, the meeting considered that in regard to farmers the regulations were being fairly interpreted. The question of Government acquisition of farm land caused a lot of discussion. A survey of land held and farmed by Government departments is being taken; it is, to say least of it illuminating, the meeting was told. It appears there is ample land for settlement without taking farmers’ land, those present thought. This matter is now being handled by Dominion office. The position of second and thirdclass country as regards manure was fully discussed, but the general opinion was that little could be done until after the Commission had finished its tour. This matter is being carefully watched. The membership now stands close on 11,000 members in the Auckland Province. Mr Buckleton, of the Wellington Council, addressed the meeting.
